Bidding Support

Support for bidding activities—such as preceding conferences, related events, and board meetings—to bring international conferences not yet confirmed for Korea to HICO

  • Bidding proposals and promotional materials
  • Overseas bidding activities and booth participation fees
  • Gala dinner F&B, performances, and venue rental
  • Accommodation and economy-class airfare for up to 2 bidding committee members
  • Accommodation during visits to Korea for up to 2 international organization VIPs
Promotion Support

Support for overseas promotion at domestic or international preceding conferences or related events to increase participation in international conferences confirmed for HICO
Once only before the event · Includes the year of hosting

  • Promotional materials such as websites, leaflets, brochures, and souvenirs
  • Booth participation fees and gala dinner costs
  • Economy-class airfare for up to 2 organizing committee members
  • SNS and blog marketing costs
Hosting Support

Support for the smooth operation of international and domestic conferences held at HICO in the given year
At least 50% of support funds must be spent with Gyeongju-based vendors · Venue rental fees are not eligible

  • F&B for official luncheons, receptions, and gala dinners
  • Cultural performances, participant transportation, and tourism program costs
  • Exhibition booth construction and venue promotional materials
  • Accommodation and hybrid venue setup costs
  • Infection-control supplies and professional disinfection services

Airfare does not cover segments via countries or cities unrelated to bidding. Simple transit stops are excluded.

  • UIA criteria Meetings with at least 250 participants, at least 40% international participants, and a duration of 2 days or more
  • ICCA criteria ICCA-listed international conferences held regularly, with at least 100 total participants (at least 50 international), rotating among 3 or more countries

CORPORATE MEETING & INCENTIVE

Corporate Meeting · Incentive Support

A hosting support program for companies and organizations holding corporate meetings or incentive travel in Gyeongju.

Eligibility Criteria

Companies or organizations that meet all of the requirements below are eligible.

CORPORATE MEETING
Corporate Meetings

Companies or organizations visiting Gyeongju for meeting purposes, hosting a conference organized by the company

  1. At least 50 international participants
  2. At least 1 overnight stay in Gyeongju
  3. At least 4 hours of meetings at HICO
INCENTIVES
Incentives (Incentive Travel)

Companies or organizations visiting Gyeongju for incentive travel purposes at the company’s expense

  1. At least 30 international participants
  2. At least 1 overnight stay in Gyeongju
  3. Priority support when the event is operated at HICO
Ineligible Events
  • Events that violate laws or social norms
  • Events that may cause social concerns by encouraging luxury, extravagance, or decadent trends
  • Duplicate support for the same items from other organizations
  • MICE events receiving direct budget support from Gyeongsangbuk-do or Gyeongju City
  • Duplicate applications with Korea Tourism Organization MICE support: Allowed. Double funding for the same items: Not allowed.

  • Additional support is available only for applicable items when the eligibility requirements are met.
  • At least 70% of the event support funding must be spent with businesses located in Gyeongju.
  • Up to 3 items may be selected from the basic support options.

Results Report & Support Payment

A results report must be submitted within 1 month after the event ends.

Payment Method

Support funds for pre-agreed items are paid directly to the designated payee.

Support Conditions

The Gyeongju City and Gyeongju CVB CIs must be displayed on all event materials and the official website. Download

Inquiries & Notes

  • Only card sales slips or electronic tax invoices are accepted as receipts; simplified invoices are not accepted.
  • Support funds cannot be paid if the results report is not submitted by the deadline.
  • If support conditions and outcomes do not match, funding may be reduced or cancelled.
  • If inflated participant counts or false documentation are found, support will be cancelled and repayment required.
  • If the host city is changed to another city or the event is cancelled, the full support amount must be returned.
  • An electronic tax invoice must be issued for the support funds.
  • Submitted documents will not be returned; if the budget is exceeded, payment is made within available funds in application order.
  • If a false application is found, funds will be recovered and the applicant will be excluded from support for at least 5 years.
  • Organizers are encouraged to use the ESG core checklist for sustainable MICE events.

Events applied for before budget allocation may receive retroactive payment after allocation, and application and results report deadlines may be adjusted by prior agreement. Please check the official notice for details.

Gyeongju MICE Housing Bureau

The Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Bureau provides the ‘Gyeongju MICE Housing Bureau’ service to help organizers and participants of MICE events held in Gyeongju book accommodations and tourism programs. The service makes it easy to arrange accommodations, complete reservations and payments, and obtain supporting documents. It is available only for events approved in advance.
