Gyeongju Convention and Visitors Bureau (Gyeongju CVB) succeeded in attracting six international academic conferences in the second half of 2018. At the 2018 International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT) which took place at Caen, France in July, Gyeongju CVB won the bid to host the annual conference in 2019. The city was also selected as the venue for 2019 International Laser Physics Workshop (LPHYS), 2019 Cold Spring Harbor Asia, 2020 Pacific Rim Bio-Based Composite Symposium (BIOCOMP), 2022 Asia Pacific Physics Conference (APPC) and 2022 International Conference on Computational Linguistics (COLING). During the bidding process, Gyeongju CVB gave presentations to each academy’s board of directors and secretariat and actively demonstrated the city’s ability to hold international conferences. Yoon Seung-hyun, president of Gyeongju CVB said, “International academic conferences bring together experts and opinion leaders of diverse disciplines from all over the world. Therefore, we will step up our efforts to ensure the greatest convenience and experience for both organizers preparing the event and participants visiting Gyeongju. |
